The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Tornado Watch for portions of
  North Carolina
  Virginia
  Far Southern West Virginia
  Coastal Waters

* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 230 PM until
  1000 PM EDT.

* Primary threats include...
  A few tornadoes likely
  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

SUMMARY...Supercell storms are expected to develop across the region
this afternoon, with the greatest severe-storm/tornado risk expected
to be located across northern North Carolina and southern Virginia
through early evening near a northward-shifting warm front.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 105 statute miles
north and south of a line from 45 miles northwest of Greensboro NC
to 10 miles northeast of Elizabeth City NC. For a co*plete depiction

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings.
