Joe's past co*es back to haunt him in You season 5 trailer

Cardi B was right; this writer was gagged! As the rapper and noted You fan teased in her pre-trailer promo yesterday, the series’ first full-length trailer came with a “cute surprise.” A couple, actually. Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley) many, many victims—the alive ones at least—are finally back to avenge themselves and/or their loved ones. About time! No sign of Jenna Ortega or Shalita Grant unfortunately, but we do see Kathryn Gallagher, who played one of Beck and Peach’s friends in season one, a very pissed off Amy-Leigh Hickman, who played Nadia, the student Joe framed for his crimes, in season four, and a slightly more grown-up version of Joe and Love’s son from season three. (Remember when Joe abandoned his son? In case all the staking and murdering didn’t tip you off, this is a bad dude.)

As previous teasers have already revealed, Joe and his latest beau, Kate the British heiress (Charlotte Ritchie), are living large in New York on Kate’s family money. Joe is famous now, but old habits—and translucent basement prison cells—die hard. There’s a new You in town (Madeline Brewer) who just “understands” him; what’s an innocent, lovesick man to do? We’ll bet a good portion of Joe’s newfound fortune that you already know the answer.

This is the fifth and final season of the Netflix series, which means the Joe Goldberg Ruined Our Lives victims coalition might actually do some damage for once. It seems like Joe somehow ropes Kate into his favorite pastime, because at one point, she asks if he wants the couple to “kill everyone who’s suspicious of us for the rest of our lives.” The answer is obviously yes, but we saw how well Joe having an equally murderous partner worked the last time around. (R.I.P. Love!) Kate—You need to get the fuck out.

Joe’s reckoning hits Netflix April 24. In the meantime, check out some new first-look images, courtesy of Netflix, below:
