Mesoscale Discussion 1162
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0712 AM CDT Tue Jun 14 2022

Areas affected...Northeast ND into extreme northwest MN

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 366...

Valid 141212Z - 141345Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 366
continues.

SUMMARY...The threat for severe/damaging wind gusts will spread
northward this morning.

DISCUSSION...At 12Z, an intense, long-lived thunderstorm cluster is
moving northward across eastern ND. This cluster has taken on a more
linear structure over the last 1-2 hours, and has beco*e well
organized with evidence of a rather strong rear-inflow jet noted on
KABR and KMVX radars. This system will continue to pose a short-term
threat of severe/damaging gusts as it moves through a moderately
unstable and favorably sheared environment. Increasing low-level
stability with northward extent may eventually lead to a weakening
trend, but at least some severe-wind threat will likely reach
extreme northeast ND/northwest MN, given the current well-organized
nature of the system.
