Mesoscale Discussion 1102
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0633 PM CDT Thu Jun 09 2022

Areas affected...Parts of west-central Nebraska

Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible

Valid 092333Z - 100100Z

Probability of Watch Issuance...60 percent

SUMMARY...The severe threat may increase across parts of
west-central Nebraska during the next couple hours. The primary
concern will be large hail. Watch issuance is possible.

DISCUSSION...Latest visible satellite imagery shows a couple
deepening cumulus towers north of North Platte, where a few
splitting supercells are evident. Lower 60s dewpoints beneath steep
midlevel lapse rates should continue to support an uptick in this
activity, while long/generally straight hodographs would favor
splitting supercells capable of large hail and locally damaging
gusts. With time, there may be a tendency for convection to grow
upscale, and the concern for damaging winds could increase with
southward extent. A watch could be issued for parts of the area.
