...Synopsis...
Modest midlevel moisture will remain in place over parts of the
Southwest into the central/southern Rockies, where daytime heating
will support another day of isolated high-based thunderstorm
development primarily over the higher terrain. As these
thunderstorms overspread a hot/deeply-mixed boundary layer and
critically dry fuels, isolated lightning-induced ignitions will be
possible over parts of southern CO, NM, and southeast AZ. In
addition, gusty/erratic outflow winds could acco*pany the
stronger/deeper storms -- especially over parts of NM and southern
CO. For details on the severe weather risk, see the Day 2 Convective
Outlook.
Elsewhere, widespread 10-15 percent RH and breezy/gusty
southwesterly surface winds are expected over parts of the southern
Great Basin. This could result in locally elevated conditions over
terrain-favored areas given the presence of receptive fuels.
