The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Southeast Colorado
Eastern New Mexico
Oklahoma Panhandle
West and Northwest Texas
* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 235 PM until
1000 PM MDT.
* Primary threats include...
Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events
to 2.5 inches in diameter possible
Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75
mph possible
A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY...Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop late this
afternoon/early evening initially across southeast Colorado and
eastern New Mexico, and subsequently spread east-southeastward
toward the Oklahoma Panhandle and much of far west/northwest Texas
including the western Texas Panhandle this evening.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 65
statute miles east and west of a line from 25 miles north northeast
of La Junta CO to 35 miles west of Wink TX. For a co*plete depiction

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
2.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 65 knots. A
few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 550. Mean storm motion vector
29020.
