Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 282

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
  Southwest Oklahoma
  Northwest Texas and the southeast Texas Panhandle

* Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 350 PM until
  1000 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75
    mph possible
  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

SUMMARY...High-based thunderstorm development is expected this
afternoon along a dryline from northwest Texas into the southeast
Texas Panhandle, and storms will spread eastward into southwest
Oklahoma this evening.  The storm environment is favorable for
intense downdrafts and severe outflow winds up to 75 mph, while
isolated large hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter may also occur with
any high-based supercells.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60
statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles north northwest
of Clinton OK to 95 miles south of Childress TX. For a co*plete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
1.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 65 knots. A
few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 550. Mean storm motion vector
