Mesoscale Discussion 0928
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0423 PM CDT Thu May 26 2022

Areas affected...eastern Georgia into the western Carolinas

Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible

Valid 262123Z - 270000Z

Probability of Watch Issuance...40 percent

SUMMARY...Mainly marginally severe wind and hail will remain
possible for a few hours across the western Carolinas and into far
eastern Georgia.

DISCUSSION...A broken line of storms currently stretches from
western NC to the SC/GA border, with mixed storm mode includes weak
supercells and small bows. The air mass near and east of this
activity remains favorably unstable for a continues strong to
marginally severe threat with MUCAPE generally between 1000-2000
J/kg.

Although overall shear is not strong, deep-layer wind speeds of
30-40 kt out of the south should continue to support
north/northeastward-moving storms capable mainly of marginal wind
gusts. Low levels of SRH do exist over the western Carolinas, with
0-1 SRH near 150 m2/s2 over western NC and VA near a weak
boundary/theta-e gradient. As cells interact with this area, a
brief/weak tornado cannot be ruled out.
