Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Valid 070100Z - 071200Z
...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF
NC/VA...
...SUMMARY...
Some severe thunderstorm threat will persist into the late evening
across parts of North Carolina and Virginia, with a risk of isolated
damaging wind and hail, and possibly a tornado or two. An isolated
severe thunderstorm risk will also persist overnight across parts of
the Florida Peninsula.
...GA/SC into the Carolinas/Virginia Vicinity...
Extensive convective overturning has occurred across parts of the
Southeast into southern VA, though sufficient instability remains to
support a few ongoing clusters and supercells, especially across
portions of VA/NC, where some threat for localized hail and damaging
wind gusts may persist into the late evening. A tornado or two
remains possible with any persistent supercell structures, though
nocturnal cooling and consolidating outflows should increasingly
tend to limit the tornado threat with time.
Further south and west, some residual low-level moisture and
instability is noted this evening, to the southeast of a cold front.
However, nocturnal stabilization and generally limited large-scale
ascent are expected to limit potential for redevelopment in this
area prior to frontal passage later tonight.
...Northern/central FL Peninsula...
Ongoing strong storms across northern FL are expected to gradually
move southward down the Peninsula tonight. Effective shear will
gradually weaken with southward extent, but should remain sufficient
to support occasionally organized storm structures into the
overnight hours, with isolated hail/damaging wind and perhaps a
brief tornado possible.
