[html]MD 0568 CONCERNING SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 155... FOR PARTS OF SOUTHEASTERN VIRGINIA INTO THE SOUTHERN DELMARVA PENINSULA
Mesoscale Discussion 0568
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0330 PM CDT Tue Apr 26 2022
Areas affected...Parts of southeastern Virginia into the southern
Delmarva Peninsula
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 155...
Valid 262030Z - 262200Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 155
continues.
SUMMARY...Risk for strong gusty winds may still increase, along with
continuing potential for small to marginally severe hail, with a
cluster of storms spreading across and north of the Interstate 64
corridor of southeastern Virginia into the southern Delmarva
Peninsula by 7 PM EDT.
DISCUSSION...Slower moving lead surge of cooler air through eastern
Virginia and the Delmarva Peninsula remains a focus for vigorous new
thunderstorm development, near/north of Williamsburg into the
Richmond area, where it intersects the primary eastward advancing
cold front. The boundary intersection has beco*e the focus for the
most substantive clustering and consolidation of convection. This
will shift east of the Greater Richmond area through southern-most
portions of the Delmarva Peninsula by 22-23Z, perhaps impacting
areas as far south as Norfolk and Virginia Beach with strong surface
gusts and small to marginally severe hail.
