Mesoscale Discussion 1757
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0428 PM CDT Fri Sep 02 2022

Areas affected...parts of southern and western Arizona...extreme
southern Nevada

Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible

Valid 022128Z - 022330Z

Probability of Watch Issuance...60 percent

SUMMARY...A few damaging wind gusts and marginal hail are possible
through the evening as storms move off the Rim.

DISCUSSION...Widely spaced storms are forming along the Rim, most
notably over Gila County. Both observed and model soundings show
steep lapse rates through a deep layer, and this will aid both
updraft strength and downdraft potential as heating continues.
Aloft, modest easterlies are observed on area VWPs, suggesting a
west/southwestward motion to the storms as they move off the Rim.

Convective trends are being monitored for a potential watch.
