Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0759 PM CDT Thu Sep 01 2022

Valid 020100Z - 021200Z

...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...

...SUMMARY...
Organized severe thunderstorms are not forecast across the
contiguous United States through tonight.

...Discussion...
Water-vapor imagery early this evening shows a mid- to upper-level
trough over KS/OK moving slowly east before reaching the Ozarks by
early Friday morning.  A localized risk for a strong thunderstorm or
two will likely remain confined to early this evening over parts of
western OK/TX Panhandle north into central KS.  The Amarillo, TX and
Dodge City, KS 00 UTC raobs show weak buoyancy but modest 20-30 kt
mid-level northerlies---supporting marginal storm organization.
However, a gradually cooling boundary layer will lead to weakening
storms with time.  Elsewhere, isolated thunderstorms are possible
this evening into the overnight across the northern Great Plains.
