Areas affected...Midwest

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 522...

Valid 202240Z - 210015Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 522
continues.

SUMMARY...Gusty winds and marginally severe hail threat continues
across central Illinois.

DISCUSSION...Early-evening water-vapor imagery depicts a disjointed
upper low near the IL/IA/WI border, shifting east-southeast in line
with latest model guidance. 150mi long corridor of loosely organized
convection has evolved ahead of this feature from southwest of
IKK-Mason County IL. MRMS data suggests marginally severe hail is
occurring with the more robust updrafts along this corridor and this
convection should continue to shift east-southeast in advance of the
progressive trough. Primary short-term severe threat (gusty
winds/marginally severe hail) will extend just downstream of this
activity where modest buoyancy has yet to be overturned beneath
strongest deep-layer flow.
