Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0133 PM CDT Thu Aug 18 2022

Valid 191200Z - 201200Z

...Northwest Dry Thunder...
Similar to day 1, forecast uncertainty with regard to thunderstorm
potential across portions of the Northwest is high. Recent model
guidance trends suggest a high probability of stratiform cloud
cover/precipitation across much of eastern/central WA and OR through
Friday afternoon. The delay in diurnal destabilization may limit
convective coverage and any subsequent risk for dry thunderstorms,
though any storms that do develop across northern/central WA will
likely be drier.

Some uncertainty also exists farther east across central ID where
increasing monsoon moisture may also result in widespread clouds.
Here, confidence in storms is higher, but a mix of wet and dry modes
co*bined with uncertainty on storm coverage suggests low confidence
in overall dry T concerns. The IsoDryT area has been shifted to the
northeast and confided to the area of highest confidence.

...Synopsis...
Broad cyclonic upper flow will enco*pass much of the CONUS
tomorrow/Friday, both with an upper trough across the Midwest and
over the Pacific Northwest. Across the Northwest into the northern
Rockies, mid-level monsoonal moisture will foster buoyancy ahead of
the western upper trough to support high-based thunderstorm
development. Isolated dry thunderstorm highlights were introduced
since some of the thunderstorms may overspread patchy dry fuel beds,
particularly across western into central Idaho.
