Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0215 PM CST Fri Dec 20 2024

Valid 221200Z - 281200Z

A progressive upper-air pattern will characterize the extended
period, with several mid-level troughs traversing the U.S.,
reinforcing high pressure over the Interior West and Northeast, with
surface lee troughing prevailing over the southern Plains. Cool
conditions are expected over the western and northern CONUS, and
appreciable precipitation accumulations are likely over the
south-central U.S. to the East Coast through next week. With the
exception of occasional, locally breezy and dry conditions along the
central and southern High Plains, quiescent fire weather conditions
are expected across the CONUS for the Days 3-8 (Sunday-Friday) time
frame.
