Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0348 PM CST Tue Nov 26 2024

Valid 281200Z - 041200Z

Fire-weather concerns are minimal. Forecast guidance shows a
persistent large-scale mid/upper-level trough over the eastern CONUS
through the extended forecast period. With a relatively stagnant
large-scale pattern, multiple reinforcing shortwave troughs will
move southeastward from Canada and the Northwest into the
central/eastern US. A persistent blocking pattern with ridging is
expected to develop over the western US, reinforcing northwesterly
flow aloft on the periphery of the eastern trough. This will support
multiple cold air intrusions as a strong cold front moves across the
CONUS D3/Thursday and into the weekend. The introduction of a cold
Arctic air mass and widespread precipitation will limit the overlap
of dry/windy conditions with receptive fuels through next week.
