...Synopsis...
Similar to Day 1/Wednesday, large-scale ridging will remain centered
over the northwestern CONUS, favoring widespread 10-15 percent
minimum RH along/east of the Cascades into the northern Rockies.
While sustained northerly surface winds are expected to generally
remain below 15 mph over this area, locally elevated conditions are
still possible primarily over terrain-favored areas of southeast OR
into northwest NV. Along the northeastern periphery of the upper
ridge, a shortwave trough embedded in northwesterly flow aloft
co*bined with increasing midlevel moisture/instability will promote
isolated to widely scattered high-based thunderstorms over the
northern Rockies. Given highly receptive fuels over this area,
isolated lightning-induced ignitions will be possible away from any
precipitation cores. Isolated thunderstorms will also be possible
along the Cascades from WA southward into northern CA, though
confidence in any more than a storm or two is too low to add dry
thunderstorm highlights at this time.
