...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF
THE NORTHERN PLAINS...
...SUMMARY...
Thunderstorms associated with marginally severe winds and hail will
be possible across parts of the northern Plains on Saturday.
...Northern Plains...
An upper-level ridge is forecast to move eastward across the
northern High Plains on Saturday. At the surface, winds are forecast
to be from south to southeast across much of the northern Plains,
with an axis of maximized low-level moisture located across the
central Dakotas. Moderate instability is expected along this axis of
moisture by afternoon. However, warm temperatures aloft, limited
large-scale ascent and a capping inversion, will likely keep
convective development very isolated. If a storm or two can develop
in spite of the cap, then a marginal wind-damage and hail threat
will be possible. Any threat would likely occur from late Saturday
afternoon into the early evening.
