Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0222 PM CDT Thu Jul 07 2022

Valid 081200Z - 091200Z

The main change with this update was to expand the Elevated
highlights northeastward into southeast ID along and south of
portions of the Snake River Plain. A lack of appreciable rainfall
over this area has allowed for drying of fuels, which co*bined with
breezy southerly surface winds near 20 mph and 10-15 percent minimum
RH will result in elevated to spotty critical conditions below 6000
feet.

Over parts of western UT into eastern NV, locally critical
conditions will be possible primarily over terrain-favored areas.
However, the localized nature of the threat precludes a Critical
area at this time. For details, see the previous discussion below.

...Synopsis...
Similar to Day 1, a mid-level trough will remain in place across the
western U.S. as upper ridging persist over the central CONUS
tomorrow/Friday. Once again, surface lee troughing is expected to
develop across the Great Basin and southern High Plains tomorrow
afternoon, supporting dry and breezy conditions. Elevated dry and
windy conditions should overspread widespread dry fuels across the
Great Basin, necessitating Elevated highlights. Across the southern
High Plains, the localized nature of dry and breezy conditions atop
spotty receptive fuels suggests that fire weather highlights are not
currently needed.
