Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0112 PM CDT Mon Jul 04 2022

Valid 051200Z - 061200Z

The previous forecast remains on track, and only minor adjustments
were made with this update. In addition to the fire-weather concerns
described below, isolated high-based dry thunderstorm development
will be possible over parts of central UT during the afternoon, and
a lightning-induced ignition or two cannot be ruled out given
receptive fuels over the area. However, the threat appears too
localized/marginal for dry thunderstorm highlights.

Similar to Day 1/Monday, continued hot/dry conditions coupled with
breezy southerly surface winds could support locally elevated
conditions over parts of the southern Plains -- particularly along
and west of I-35 in OK and TX where fuels continue to dry. Elevated
highlights have been withheld given the spotty nature of the threat.

...Synopsis...
The upper-level trough over the West will gradually de-amplify
throughout the day as an upper-level ridge over the central CONUS
builds and beco*e more expansive. Despite this evolution, enough
residual southwesterly mid-level flow will remain over parts of the
Great Basin region to produce sustained winds near 15 mph with RH
values into the teens for a few hours during the afternoon. With
fuels remaining receptive to large-fire spread, elevated
fire-weather conditions will be possible.
