NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1252 AM CDT Mon Jul 04 2022

Areas affected...southwestern and south-central North Dakota into
northwestern and north-central South Dakota

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 428...

Valid 040552Z - 040745Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 428
continues.

SUMMARY...Severe-weather potential -- mainly in the form of damaging
winds -- continues across western portions of WW 428.

DISCUSSION...Latest radar loop shows a well-organized, bowing MCS
crossing the western border region of North Dakota/South Dakota at
this time.  The storms are being fueled by 1000 to 2000 J/kg
mixed-layer CAPE, in an axis extending from southeastern Montana
eastward/northeastward.  With southeasterly low-level flow indicated
across this region, forward propagation of this convective band is
expected, given the available/downstream CAPE.  Damaging wind gusts
can be expected locally, with a couple of low-60s MPH gusts recorded
over the past hour with this convection.  A few instances of
marginally severe hail may also occur, as the storms advance
eastward.
