Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0154 PM CDT Sat Jun 25 2022

Valid 261200Z - 271200Z

...Western Slope...
Another day of monsoon thunderstorm activity is expected across
portions of western Colorado, Utah and into the Great Basin. Storm
coverage appears greatest across the Colorado San Juans and
southeastern Utah where a wetter mode with sporadic dry strikes is
expected. Farther north and west, more limited moisture and coverage
should result in favorable profiles for isolated dry thunderstorms.
The IsoDryT area was adjusted to the latest guidance to better cover
areas of more isolated storm coverage.

...Southwest Texas...
Ahead of a cold front moving slowly south through the southern
Plains, locally stronger winds are forecast across the Big Bend and
Trans-Pecos region of west Texas. While likely not sustained owing
to spotty fuel availability and overall weak flow beneath high
pressure, at least locally elevated fire weather conditions may
develop within the hot temperatures (90+F) and locally gusty winds
Sunday.

...Synopsis...
A mid-level ridge will continue to dominate much of the CONUS while
mid-level moisture continues to meander across the Interior West
tomorrow/Sunday. Isolated high-based thunderstorms are expected
develop by afternoon across portions of the Great Basin. While some
storms may be wetting and slow-moving, fuels are critically
receptive to fire spread on at least a spotty basis. Isolated dry
thunderstorm highlights have been added to account for the
possibility of lightning-induced ignitions within more receptive
fuel beds.
