Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0806 PM CDT Fri Jun 24 2022

Valid 250100Z - 251200Z

...THERE IS AN ENHANCED RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM CENTRAL
SOUTH DAKOTA NORTHEASTWARD ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN NORTH DAKOTA AND INTO
WEST-CENTRAL AND NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA...

...SUMMARY...
Severe thunderstorms, and associated risks for widespread damaging
wind gusts, very large hail, and a couple of tornadoes, will
continue this evening and into tonight from the eastern Dakotas into
northwestern Minnesota.

...Portions of the northern and central Plains and into the Upper
Midwest...
Scattered to widespread strong/severe storms are ongoing at this
time across portions of the north-central U.S. and extending as far
south as northeastern Colorado/northwestern Kansas.  The storms are
occurring near and ahead of a cold front crossing the Dakotas, and
southward along a surface trough from central South Dakota into
eastern Colorado.  Near and ahead of these boundaries, a very
moist/strongly unstable airmass is present, fueling the
vigorous/ongoing convection.  Aided by moderately strong deep-layer
flow spreading across the region ahead of the advancing upper trough
crossing the northern Intermountain region, severe storms --
including both supercells and organized/bowing structures -- will
continue this evening.  Along with risk for very large hail,
widespread damaging winds can be expected, especially with bowing
convective clusters.  A tornado or two also remain possible, though
this risk should diminish gradually through the evening.
