...Synopsis...
With sufficient midlevel moisture remaining in place across the
Southwest and central/southern Rockies (per 10/00Z observed
soundings), high-based thunderstorm development is expected over
parts of south-central CO, NM, AZ, and far west TX during the
afternoon. Given the presence of extremely dry fuels over these
areas, isolated lightning-induced ignitions will be possible --
especially during the early stages of development and away from any
heavier precipitation cores. In addition, widespread 10-15 percent
RH across the Great Basin will allow for locally elevated conditions
where breezy surface winds develop over terrain-favored areas.
However, these conditions appear too localized to introduce
highlights.
