Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0200 AM CDT Tue Jun 07 2022
Valid 071200Z - 081200Z
...Synopsis...
A low-amplitude shortwave trough and enhanced westerly midlevel flow
will cross the central Rockies, while a weak lee surface low
develops over eastern CO.
...Isolated Dry Thunderstorms...
As easterly flow overspreads the southern High Plains in response to
the developing surface low, initially high-based thunderstorm
development is expected from southern CO southward into central NM
during the afternoon. As these thunderstorms spread eastward amid a
hot/deeply-mixed boundary layer and critically dry fuels, isolated
lightning-induced ignitions will be possible prior to convective
upscale growth. In addition, strong to severe outflow winds could
acco*pany the more organized storms. For details on the severe
weather risk, see the Day 1 Convective Outlook.
...Southwest...
Widespread 10-15 percent RH is expected across the Southwest, and
locally elevated conditions will be possible where breezy surface
winds develop over terrain-favored areas.
