Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0233 PM CDT Fri Jun 03 2022

Valid 041200Z - 051200Z

The latest high-resolution guidance consensus has trended upward in
coverage of 15+ mph westerly surface winds across eastern Arizona
into New Mexico tomorrow afternoon, when RH is expected to drop
below 15 percent, necessitating the addition of Elevated highlights.
Sparse dry lightning is also possible to the immediate lee of the
Rockies, from far southeast Wyoming to the Texas Panhandle, but the
very isolated coverage of thunderstorms and modest fuels precludes
isolated dry thunderstorm highlights this outlook.

.PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 0201 AM CDT Fri Jun 03 2022/

...Synopsis...
Zonal midlevel flow will be in place across the western CONUS, while
a weak area of surface low pressure persists over parts of the Great
Basin.

...Southwest...
A dry airmass will remain in place across the Southwest, where
widespread 10-15 percent RH will develop during the afternoon. While
breezy west-southwesterly surface winds of 15-20 mph coupled with
the dry boundary layer conditions could support elevated conditions,
these conditions should generally be confined to terrain-favored
areas -- precluding Elevated highlights at this time.
