Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1056 AM CDT Fri Jun 03 2022
Valid 031700Z - 041200Z
...NO CRITICAL AREAS...
Sunny skies prevail across the Southwest, with surface observations
already showing RH below 15 percent across much of Arizona into far
western New Mexico. As boundary-layer heating/mixing continues
through the afternoon, RH should drop to or below 15 percent across
much of New Mexico. Locally Elevated conditions are still expected
across Arizona into New Mexico, with perhaps brief bouts of Critical
conditions possible in terrain-favoring areas.

.PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 0200 AM CDT Fri Jun 03 2022/
...Synopsis...
A low-amplitude midlevel trough and modest west-southwesterly flow
aloft will overspread the Great Basin, favoring the development of a
weak surface low over the area.
...Southwest...
Along the southern periphery of the weak surface low, sustained
west-southwesterly surface winds near 15 mph will develop amid 10-15
percent minimum RH during the afternoon. This could result in
locally elevated fire-weather conditions across parts of the
Southwest, though the lack of a tighter surface pressure gradient
and only modest flow through the boundary layer casts uncertainty on
the overall fire-weather threat. Therefore, no highlights have been
added at this time.
