The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  northwestern New Jersey
  western and southern New York
  northeastern Ohio
  western and northern Pennsylvania
  northern West Virginia Panhandle
  Lake Erie

* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 215 PM
  until 1000 PM EDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 65 mph possible
  Scattered large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible

SUMMARY...Thunderstorm development initiating near and southeast of
Lakes Erie and Ontario will continue to increase in coverage and
intensify this afternoon.  Gradually, storms may consolidate into
organizing clusters with increasing potential for damaging wind
gusts while spreading southeastward and southward into this evening.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 70
statute miles north and south of a line from 30 miles north of Akron
OH to 5 miles southeast of Monticello NY. For a co*plete depiction

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 55 knots. A few
