Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0156 PM CDT Fri May 13 2022

Valid 141200Z - 151200Z

...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

The previous forecast remains on track, and no changes were made
with this update. In addition to the fire-weather concerns described
below, modestly enhanced midlevel westerly flow atop deep/dry
boundary-layer conditions will result in localized fire-weather
concerns over the mountains and valleys of south-central Colorado
(mainly over terrain-favored areas). Here, pockets of 10-15 percent
RH and gusty west-northwesterly surface winds will develop amid
critically dry fuels. However, the localized nature of these
conditions and lack of a tighter surface pressure gradient precludes
highlights at this time.

.PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 0140 AM CDT Fri May 13 2022/

...Synopsis...
A mid-level ridge will build into the western CONUS on Saturday.
Some stronger flow will remain across the Northern Plains as the
pattern amplifies. Some deep mixing is expected beneath this
stronger mid-level flow which will lead to some dry and breezy
conditions across portions of South Dakota and Nebraska. ERCs are
low across these areas and therefore, the fire weather threat should
remain minimal despite the potential for dry and breezy conditions.

Ridging building across the Southwest will keep surface winds
relatively weak on Saturday. This will result in benign fire weather
conditions.
