Areas affected...far northeastern NM...the TX/OK
Panhandles...southwestern KS...and far northwestern OK

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 156...

Valid 280138Z - 280345Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 156
continues.

SUMMARY...The risk of damaging wind gusts and isolated large hail
will continue across Severe Thunderstorm Watch 156 this evening.

DISCUSSION...Latest mosaic radar data shows upscale growth occurring
over parts of southwest KS, and this activity should continue to
organize this evening as a midlevel spreed maximum overspreads the
area in conjunction with a strengthening low-level jet. Damaging
gusts of 60-70 mph will be the primary concern, though sporadic
large hail will also be possible. Farther south across the TX
Panhandle, a mix of multicell clusters and transient supercell
structures will continue to pose a risk of isolated large hail,
before the threat transitions to mainly damaging wind gusts. A
dry/well-mixed boundary layer will allow for inhibition to increase
rather quickly this evening as nocturnal cooling occurs, keeping the
threat primarily relegated to gust front convergence zones. The
threat should also decrease with eastward extent this evening owing
to the increasing inhibition.
