The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  Oklahoma Panhandle
  Texas Panhandle and South Plains

* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 355 PM until
  1000 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3
    inches in diameter likely
  Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts
    to 75 mph possible
  A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...Severe storms including supercells are expected to develop
and increase through late afternoon and early evening. These storms
will initially be some somewhat high-based with very large hail as
the primary hazard. Damaging wind potential my increase through
early evening, along with some tornado risk.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60
statute miles east and west of a line from 20 miles north northwest
of Guymon OK to 50 miles south southwest of Lubbock TX. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
3 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 65 knots. A
few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean storm motion vector
