Mesoscale Discussion 1723
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0254 PM CDT Fri Aug 26 2022

Areas affected...parts of southern New England

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 523...

Valid 261954Z - 262200Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 523
continues.

SUMMARY...A primarily damaging wind and hail threat continues across
the region.

DISCUSSION...Strong to severe storms currently extend from far
southern ME southwestward into CT, with mixed storm modes. The air
mass has destabilized further, with GPS PWAT values now approaching
1.75" over CT. Meanwhile, warm temperatures near 90 F are noted
inland over eastern MA.

An organized line of storms will produce strong gusts as it moves
through the Boston area, and other cells extending southwestward may
also produce hail as storm model is more cellular presently.

The severe threat should continue to decrease from west to east as
the air mass is overturned and low-level winds veer to westerly.
