Valid 091200Z - 101200Z
...Synopsis...
Upper ridging will continue across the Interior West, with an upper
low impinging on the West Coast tomorrow/Tuesday. A belt of stronger
southerly 500 mb flow will immediately precede the upper low along
the southern Cascades as 1+ inch precipitable water values rapidly
transport northwestward into the Pacific Northwest. Ample deep-layer
ascent and associated stronger flow aloft will encourage the
development of scattered to possibly numerous fast-moving
thunderstorms across much of central and eastern Oregon during the
late afternoon and evening hours. While the storms are expected to
be more wet than dry, the abundant nature of the storms (and
associated chance of strikes peripheral to storm cores in dry fuel
beds), along with potentially several 25-40 kt gusts, warrant the
introduction of isolated dry thunderstorm highlights.
