Jon Stewart is also wondering what the hell Chuck Schumer is thinking
[html]On a new Daily Show, Jon Stewart laid into the Democrats' strategy of giving Trump everything he wants.

At this point in the Trump administration, we must assume that many Democrats approve of the White House’s agenda and want it to continue. How else could we possibly understand their feckless attempts at disruption and protest in the face of a president who’s dismantling the American government, attempting to put thousands of federal workers out of the job, rounding up people for deportation despite court orders, and killing thousands of people by gutting foreign aid programs? One would think that the supposed opposition party would, you know, oppose. Nevertheless, as laid out on tonight’s Daily Show, Republicans are playing Mortal Kombat, and Democrats are watching them play Mortal Kombat.
Jon Stewart had his glasses on the edge of his nose as he went through Chuck Schumer’s ridiculous reasoning for betraying his constituents and voting to pass a nauseating bill that would keep the government open, but his colleagues spent weeks calling a non-starter. Heck, 24 hours before he voted on it, Schumer told the Senate that Republicans didn’t have the votes. However, considering he had a book tour to go on, which has been canceled due to a spike in interest in insulting the Minority Leader in person, he voted to fund the government and everything in the House spending bill that was supposedly bad, relinquishing the only leverage Democrats had toward stopping the bleeding.
Schumer has beco*e a low-key villain on The Daily Show this year, with his inability to capitalize on the ire President Trump and co-president Elon Musk have brought out of the American people. Instead, he’s given the administration everything they want in hopes of catching a Republican at the gym, where all the “inhibitions fall away.” Sadly, many lines like that and the hope that the Republican “fever” is going to break any day now have been Democratic talking points since the Obama administration, and you know what? The fever has only gotten worse.
“These Republicans are co*mitted to a plan born out of an ideological 50 to 60-year project to remake America, and classifying it as a fever excuses you from having to propose an alternative and allows you to pretend that this is just an issue of messaging and not merit,” Stewart said. “Boy, are Dems busy fixing messaging. Ambitious Democrats have a game plan. They’re going to yak it up about sports and go on more podcasts.”
We guess while California Governor Gavin Newsom is welco*ing Steve Bannon on his podcast and Schumer waits for Trump’s approval rating to look more like the Democrats’, Americans are going to have to tank Tesla’s stock without an opposition party backing them up.
