Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 504...

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 504
continues.

SUMMARY...A lingering threat for occasional hail and strong/gusty
winds may continue for a couple more hours. But, additional watch
issuance is not expected.

DISCUSSION...Thunderstorms persist early this morning across parts
of eastern CO into northwestern KS along a convectively reinforced
front. Hail cores associated with the strongest updrafts have
occasionally reached marginally severe levels over the past couple
of hours. This trend may continue in the short term, as this
activity has access to sufficient instability to support current
updraft intensity. Otherwise, a separate cluster of thunderstorms
should move southeastward from south-central NE into north-central
and northwestern KS over the next couple of hours. This convection
should have access to slightly better MUCAPE and low-level moisture,
but increasing convective inhibition with southward extent into KS
should tend to keep the threat for strong/gusty winds rather
isolated. Severe Thunderstorm Watch 504 is scheduled to expire at
07Z, and additional watch issuance is not expected this morning.
