...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER PORTIONS OF
THE NORTHEAST AND MID-ATLANTIC REGION...
...SUMMARY...
Scattered severe thunderstorms will be possible Monday across
portions of the Northeast and mid-Atlantic states. Damaging gusts
will be the primary severe hazard.
...Synopsis...
Broadly cyclonic mid-level flow will exist across the northern CONUS
Monday as an upper-level anticyclone remains established across the
south-central U.S. A cold front will move east off of the northeast
U.S. coast late Monday and extend west from the mid-Atlantic across
the TN Valley and central Plains.
...Mid-Atlantic/northeast U.S...
A very moist air mass will exist in advance of the cold front Monday
characterized by surface dew points in the 70s and PW values near 2
inches. Southwest to west mid-level flow will result in deep-layer
shear averaging 25-30 kts over the Delmarva Peninsula and around 40
kts across the northeast. Frontal convergence and diurnal heating
will contribute to thunderstorm development along the front by
afternoon, with multicell clusters or line segments capable of
mainly damaging downburst winds.
