The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  Southwest Connecticut
  Northern Delaware
  Eastern shore of Maryland
  New Jersey
  Southern New York
  Southeast Pennsylvania
  Coastal Waters

* Effective this Tuesday afternoon and evening from 500 PM until
  1000 PM EDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
  Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible

SUMMARY...Scattered severe storms are expected to move into parts of
the DelMarVa, New Jersey, and southern New York during the next few
hours.  The storm environment will support a threat for damaging
winds of 60-70 mph and isolated large hail near 1 inch in diameter,
especially with any persistent supercells.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
statute miles east and west of a line from Poughkeepsie NY to 25
miles west southwest of Philadelphia PA. For a co*plete depiction of

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
