Mesoscale Discussion 1151
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0737 PM CDT Mon Jun 13 2022

Areas affected...North-Central ND

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 358...

Valid 140037Z - 140230Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 358
continues.

SUMMARY...Damaging winds are possible across north-central ND this
evening. Some threat for hail also exists.

DISCUSSION...Maturing squall line has advanced across western
portions of ww358. Over the last hour or so, an expanding precip
shield has been noted in the wake of the leading squall line and
this ultimately should contribute to a forward-propagating MCS,
primarily across north-central portions of ND over the next 1-3
hours. 00z sounding from BIS exhibits MUCAPE on the order of 3000
J/kg with strongly sheared deep flow and a veering profile that
favors an organized MCS continuing. With high-level diffluent flow
observed across the northern Plains, storm-top venting should also
encourage a longer-lived MCS.
