Mesoscale Discussion 1047
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0147 AM CDT Mon Jun 06 2022

Areas affected...Central and Eastern Oklahoma

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 312...

Valid 060647Z - 060815Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 312
continues.

SUMMARY...An isolated threat for wind damage and large hail will
likely continue for a couple more hours. But the severe threat
should beco*e more marginal as the expiration of WW 312 approaches.
New weather watch issuance appears unlikely.

DISCUSSION...The latest high-resolution radar imagery from Tulsa
shows an MCS located from northern Oklahoma into far southeast
Kansas. Over the last couple of hours, the MCS has organized into
two bowing line segments. The MCS is moving southeastward along the
western edge of a moderately unstable airmass. Surface dewpoints
ahead of the MCS are generally in the mid 60s F, and MLCAPE is
estimated by the RAP to be between 750 and 1500 J/kg. In addition,
the Tulsa WSR-88D VWP has 0-6 km shear near 35 knots with some
veering of the winds with height in the lowest 2 km. This
environment should support a wind-damage threat for a couple more
hours, as the MCS tracks across central and eastern Oklahoma. Large
hail could also occur with the more intense parts of the MCS. But
the severe threat should beco*e more isolated as instability drops
ahead of the MCS over the next few hours.
