...Synopsis...
In the wake of mid-level western US troughing ejecting eastward
across the Plains, shortwave ridging will temporarily intensify over
the Southwestern US. The increase in heights will result in weak
winds aloft and at the surface through the forecast period.
Additionally, weak upslope flow and increasing surface moisture in
the wake of a cold front across the southern Plains will support
increased humidity and thunderstorm chances throughout much of
southeastern NM. Isolated lightning strikes may occur, but storm
coverage is expected to remain limited. With weak flow and cooler
temperatures expected through the Southwest, fire weather concerns
are minimal.
