Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0157 AM CDT Tue May 31 2022

Valid 011200Z - 021200Z

...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

...Synopsis...
As mid-level western US troughing weakens ahead of shortwave ridging
developing along the West Coast, flow aloft over the Southwestern US
is forecast to slacken. At the surface, a cool upslope post-frontal
airmass should support large humidity recoveries and light winds
unsupportive of widespread fire weather concerns. The increase in
moisture may support isolated thunderstorm potential in the
afternoon along the eastern edge of the higher terrain. While a few
lightning strikes will be possible, relatively high PWATS and
limited storm coverage will be largely unsupportive of dry thunder
potential.
