NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0543 PM CDT Thu May 12 2022

Areas affected...South-central Nebraska and far northern Kansas

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 208...210...

Valid 122243Z - 122345Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 208, 210
continues.

SUMMARY...A brief large hail/damaging wind threat is possible across
north-central Kansas and south-central Nebraska this evening.

DISCUSSION...Storms have developed along central Nebraska this
evening as the rapidly moving cold front has overtaken the dryline.
Storms have been pretty weak thus far, likely due to them forming in
an airmass which was overturned by earlier convection. Farther
south, a more unstable airmass is in place with temperatures still
in the upper 80s and 2000+ J/kg MLCAPE. Therefore, expect more
vigorous storm development over the next hour or so as the cold
front continues to overtake the dryline.

Additionally, a small cluster of storms has already developed along
the dryline in southeast Grove County, Kansas. The environment
remains favorable for this cluster to persist for another hour or
two before the boundary layer begins to cool and the storm is
expected to weaken. WFO DDC has expanded watch 210 to cover the
severe threat from this cluster.
