Mesoscale Discussion 0733
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1054 AM CDT Thu May 12 2022

Areas affected...central Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin

Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible

Valid 121554Z - 121830Z

Probability of Watch Issuance...60 percent

SUMMARY...A co*plex of storms may gain strength as it moves across
central Minnesota and into northwest Wisconsin. Trends are being
monitored for intensification.

DISCUSSION...Recent trends have show intensification of a broken
line of storms over central MN, well north of the warm front
currently. A severe gust was recently measured, despite temperatures
in the 50s F.

Substantial elevated instability exists north of the boundary, which
is forecast to gradually mix northward today. Southerly winds from
surface to 850 mb will also gradually increase throughout the day as
the line of storms intercepts a more favorable air mass. As such, a
watch for severe gusts and marginal hail may be required in the next
1-2 hours.
