Day 3 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0214 AM CDT Sat Aug 20 2022

Valid 221200Z - 231200Z

...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...

...SUMMARY...
Severe thunderstorms are not expected on Monday.

...Synopsis...
Modest upper troughing is forecast to be in place over the central
and eastern CONUS early Monday morning. A pair of shortwave troughs
are expected within this broader upper troughing, one over the upper
OH Valley and the other in the vicinity of north Texas. Both of
these shortwaves are expected to gradually move eastward throughout
the day, with lift attendant to these systems contributing to
thunderstorm development. Limited vertical shear is currently
anticipated in these areas, keeping the overall severe potential
low.

A shortwave trough is also expected to move through the Pacific
Northwest, contributing to scattered thunderstorms over the northern
Rockies. However, limited buoyancy should temper the severe
potential over the region.
