Amazon reportedly courting Harry Potter, Spider-Man execs to produce James Bond

[html]Amy Pascal and David Heyman are rumored to be Amazon execs' top choice for the job.

Are we any closer to a new James Bond? Well, not really, according to a new Puck News report, which states that moving forward depends on closing the exit deal with former producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, “which is still a ways off.” But Amazon has invested a lot into Bond—it’s apparently a driving factor as to why the co*pany bought MGM Studios—so obviously, the execs there are going to want to hit the ground running as soon as the Broccolis are safely out the door. Enter: David Heyman and Amy Pascal

Per Puck, the two veteran franchise producers are in talks to helm the new era of James Bond. Heyman’s bona fides include the Harry Potter films and the first two Paddingtons. Pascal has produced many a Spider-Man movie (she also has experience with Amazon MGM Studios after producing Challengers and the upco*ing Project Hail Mary). Heyman, like Bond, is British. And Pascal actually worked on some Bonds (Casino Royale, Skyfall, and Quantum of Solace) when she was with Sony Pictures, which distributed several Bond films. And lest we think Amazon is throwing two industry power players together haphazardly, the duo do share some overlap: both have worked with Greta Gerwig, Heyman on Barbie and Pascal on Little Women and the upco*ing Chronicles Of Narnia movie. Heyman and Pascal are both listed as producers on Jay Kelly, the next film from Gerwig’s partner Noah Baumbach.

Nothing is yet set in stone, but Puck reports the duo is the top choice of Amazon execs Mike Hopkins, Jen Salke, and Courtenay Valenti. Puck also hints that the door is open for Christopher Nolan to co*e on board with his wife, producer Emma Thomas, but it’s unclear if Nolan is still interested in the job. There are at least a few filmmakers, including Conclave‘s Edward Berger, who are skeptical about taking on an Amazon Bond. The involvement of Pascal and Heyman may smooth the way to get creatives excited about the famous spy again.
