In the age of so many streaming services, do you ever get nostalgic for just turning on the TV and flipping the channels to find a random Simpsons re-run? If the answer is “yes,” Disney+ now has a solution. On Tuesday, the service announced a new 24/7 Simpsons Stream for premium subscribers. “THE SIMPSONS Stream will deliver a SIMPSONS marathon all day, every day — no matter when you tune in, this ultimate SIMPSONS binge will be there,” The Simpsons showrunner Matt Selman said in a press release.

Starting today, The Simpsons Stream will play every episode, non-stop, in chronological order. That’s 767 episodes over 35 seasons for “a total of nearly 300 continuous hours with the Simpsons family,” the press release helpfully explains. It’ll save you the trouble of having to pick one of those 767 episodes for yourself—you can just turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream, as the song goes. Per the press release, the programming lineup for The Simpsons Stream will be “refreshed monthly.” 

The beloved animated sitco* joins previously established Streams (as in, not just any old stream, but a capital-S Disney-branded Stream) “Hits & Heroes,” which features “a co*pilation of action-packed stories from marquee brands and franchises,” “Throwbacks,” which features nostalgia fare, “Real Life,” which runs documentaries and biopics, “Disney+ Playtime,” which has content for kids, and “ABC News,” which is, well, the news. 

The concept of “Streams” is yet another installment of a streaming era classic, “reinventing how TV already worked.” Disney+ isn’t the only streamer to do it; it’s particularly prevalent with FAST services (a.k.a. Free, ad-supported streaming television) like Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, and Tubi. (Samsung TV Plus has a 24-hour channel of just Conan O’Brien clips.) Other notable reinventions of the old television model have seen streamers getting back into live events, sports, bundling, and of course co*mercials.
