Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0123 PM CDT Thu Aug 04 2022

Valid 051200Z - 061200Z

...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

...Central Plains...
Surface moisture is forecast to increase through much of the morning
ahead of the cold front moving into western NE Friday. As a result,
overnight and early morning humidity recoveries will be substantial,
with RH values upwards of 80% expected. The enhanced moisture along
and near the front will also support showers and thunderstorms
limiting mixing and diurnal RH minimums. While area fuels remain
favorable as evidence by several ongoing fires, current forecasts
suggests RH and wind thresholds will fall short of Elevated criteria
Friday. Please see the previous discussion for more information.

.PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 0151 AM CDT Thu Aug 04 2022/

...Synopsis...
An upper-level shortwave trough is forecast to move eastward along
the northern international border on Friday. An associated surface
low over the Canadian Prairies will continue to deepen with a
trailing surface trough/cold front draped southward into the Plains.
While a co*bination of diurnal mixing and strengthening low-level
flow in response to the wave will support hot and breezy conditions
across portions of Nebraska, South Dakota, and southwestern
Minnesota, there is too much uncertainty with regard to RH values
falling to near-critical thresholds to add fire weather highlights
at this time.
