...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PARTS OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL
MONTANA...

...Synopsis...
Similar to Day 1/Tuesday, a large-scale ridge will remain in place
over the Great Basin, while a belt of enhanced westerly midlevel
flow overspreads the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies. Within
the westerly midlevel flow, a shortwave trough and acco*panying
strong flow aloft will move southeastward across the Pacific
Northwest into the northern Rockies. 

...Wind/RH...
Critical fire-weather conditions are once again expected over parts
of northern and central MT during the afternoon, where
boundary-layer mixing into the strong flow aloft will result in a
corridor of 20-25 mph sustained westerly surface winds and 10-15
percent RH. Farther west in the lee of the Cascades in WA into
north-central OR, strong downslope flow will contribute to 10-15
percent RH and 15-20 mph sustained west-southwesterly surface winds.
Given critically dry fuels over this area, elevated to locally
critical conditions can be expected. 

...Dry Thunderstorms...
Along the northern periphery of the monsoonal moisture plume,
diurnal heating and subtle large-scale ascent will support isolated
high-based thunderstorms along the Cascades in OR into northern CA.
Most of these storms will have little accumulating rainfall, and
isolated lightning-induced ignitions will be possible.
