Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0350 PM CST Mon Nov 25 2024

Valid 271200Z - 031200Z

Fire-weather concerns are low through the extended forecast period.
The mid-level flow pattern is forecast to slowly amplify as a
shortwave trough embedded in strong westerly flow translates over
the central US midweek. Forecast to deepen as it moves over the
eastern US, the broad upper trough will beco*e quasi stationary
through the end of the week. Over the West, high pressure will build
as a series of cold fronts move through the central and eastern US.
A much colder surface pattern is expected to remain in place through
the extended forecast period as multiple reinforcing cold fronts
bring Arctic air into the CONUS into next weekend. The co*bination
of much colder temperatures, abundant precipitation, and high
pressure should keep fire-weather concerns limited.

...Southern High Plains...
Ahead of shortwave trough moving across through the Rockies/Plains
D3/Wed, a weak lee low will intensify ahead of a surging cold front.
A few hours of gusty downslope winds and RH of 15-20% are possible
across eastern NM and West TX behind the low as it deepens. However,
area fuels are not overly receptive, and the cold front will arrive
quickly with the potential for precipitation and much cooler
temperatures. This suggests any fire-weather threat that could
develop will be localized and short lived.
