MD 1368 Image

Mesoscale Discussion 1368
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1049 PM CDT Mon Jul 04 2022

Areas affected...Northern Nebraska

Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely

Valid 050349Z - 050615Z

Probability of Watch Issuance...5 percent

SUMMARY...A marginal wind-damage threat may continue across parts of
northern Nebraska over the next couple of hours. The threat should
be too isolated for weather watch issuance.

DISCUSSION...The latest radar imagery shows a small cluster of
storms to west of Valentine, Nebraska. This cluster will continue to
move eastward across northern Nebraska, where the RAP has a pocket
of MLCAPE estimated to be in the 3500 to 4500 J/kg range. In spite
of the instability, RAP forecast soundings over northern Nebraska
have 0-6 km in the 25 to 35 knot range. This should keep the
convection relatively unorganized. Due to the strong instability, a
marginal wind-damage threat will be possible, but watch issuance is
not expected.
